OUR COMMUNITY WORK

We are in a now in very privileged position, having been established for over a year, to be able to use our resources to help the wider community around us.

Exercise and sport has been shown to improve positive mental health and quality of life. As fitness professionals, we feel there is no greater way to get people involved than through our fitness based charity events.

7 HILLS OF EDINBURGH CHALLENGE

This was our very first fundraising event for local Edinburgh charity Health in Mind. The challenge was to complete all 7 hills of Edinburgh (bonus points if you can name them before reading on) back to back on foot. The hills are Corstorphine hill, Edinburgh Castle, Calton hill, Arthurs Seat, Blackford hill, Braids hill and Craiglockhart hill. It was a cracking day out with the team and we managed to raise over £1300 for a great cause.

MOUNT EVEREST STAIR CLIMB CHALLENGE

We recently took on the challenge of climbing the height of Mount Everest (8,849m) and back down on the Climb Mills in the gym between 8am and 8pm. The total amount of floors we had to climb was 7,300. Safe to say our legs were cooked! One of the toughest challenges we've done to date but with the help of our amazing community and gym members we managed to smash it and raise a grand total of £1791.50 for Cancer Research UK.

24 HOUR INDOOR CYCLE

Our second charity event was a bit tougher on the old bodies and mind. A 24 hour indoor cycle which included us teaching a couple of cycle classes during the last hour and half! We were very lucky to have so many Motiv8ers, gym regulars and the PureGym team to keep us going throughout. Such a great laugh and more so we were able to raise over £1000 for Health in Mind once again, a supportive charity that do great work in the local community.

LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS

One of our smaller challenges but a challenge nonetheless. We took on cycling, walking and or running in the gym, the distance of Lands End in Cornwall to John O' Groats in the very opposite end of Scotland. This covered a total distance of 970km taking us a total of 7 hours and 30 minutes to complete. Again our awesome community were out in force to support and help us along the way. This time we raised a total of £400 for local Edinburgh charity Health in Mind.

EDINBURGH FOODBANK DONATIONS

Our lovely community of bootcampers, clients and gym goers were generous enough to donate a huge amount of food to the Edinburgh Foodbanks. The need for foodbanks has risen since the Covid-19 pandemic. As health and fitness professionals we understand the damaging effects malnutrition can have on an individuals quality of life, which is why we aim to support this cause as much as we can and end the need for foodbanks.

Something else to think about when it comes to food. Zero Waste Scotland estimates that around 600'000 to 1.35 million tonnes of food and drink is wasted in Scotland each year. The cost of this wasted food and drink is around £1.1 billion a year, an average of £460 per household.
